The Feast of the Immaculate Conception

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary  (Dec. 8) celebrates the conception of the Virgin Mary without any stain of Original Sin. This doctrine of the Catholic Church states that, from the first moment of her existence, Mary was preserved by God from the Original Sin and filled with sanctifying grace.

So why would God have given this one woman such a gift and blessing...
If you could create your own mother wouldn't you want her to be perfect and sinless!?!? I would!
God was able to make his son's mother and so he created her special and above all other women.

This is a Holy Day of Obligation and ALL Catholics are required to go to Mass,
or it is considered a mortal (serious) sin.

Just to clarify:
Mary's Immaculate Conception should not be confused with the conception of Jesus which is celebrated on the 25th of March (9 months before Christmas).
The conception of Jesus is known as the Annunciation to Mary. This is when the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and asked her to be the mother of God.
Also, Catholics do not believe that Mary, herself, was the product of a Virgin Birth.
