The Loss of a Good Man....

This week started out with such a rush...Rebekah's Confirmation was scheduled for Friday night at 7:00 PM. Yesterday I helped Rebekah pick out a lovely outfit from her closet to wear the evening of her Confirmation. Then we ate dinner and rushed out the door to meet Rebekah's sponsor for practice at the church. This morning I was sitting in the kitchen with Rachel and Rebekah, as we made a few final plans for tomorrow night's exciting event.  All seems to be going well, but then the phone rang. My sister was calling (her daughter was being confirmed too.). She didn't 'beat around the bush' she just came strait to her point: "The bishop died this morning!"
I was in sudden shock and I had to take a minute to think...she couldn't mean our bishop! He's so young!
But sadly she really did mean our bishop: Bishop Joseph McFadden died totally unexpectedly at the age of 65. We are all sad for to lose such a wonderful bishop and we pray that he is now in Heaven with Our Lord.
Rebekah is upset, I'm not sure if it's do to the loss of our bishop or the fact that they canceled the Confirmation. But ether way, it's been a heartbreaking day.

    1. Oh that's sad; We had the same problem here a number of years in a row. Our bishop was very sick for may years and often couldn't make it to the Confirmations. (He was our 8th bishop it was our 10th bishop who just past away) I'll pray that all goes well for your daughter.

  4. It came as such a shock!! I was at a friend's house and her husband works up at the diocese. He walked in the door and told us the news. We started to pray right away.

Thinking of your daughter too. I'm sure it's got to be disappointing for her.

    1. Jill, Yes, that was a huge shock! I hope we have a new bishop when Alby's Confirmation rolls around! Our DRE said we most-likely won't have the Confirmation for a month or more. This was just so sudden! I still feel like we are all getting over the shock here at our house!
